Alcance

The preparation, establishing, adoption and application of standards. KAZMEMST implements the State policy in the field of Technical Regulation and maintenance of uniformity of measurements. KAZMEMST forms the State systems of Technical Regulation and maintenance of uniformity of measurements. As of today, Kazakhstan is working on the formation of the technical legislation and normative legal acts with a view to reforming the system of technical regulation and the accession of the Republic into the World Trade Organization. Legislative and normative bases should be harmonized as much as possible with the international requirements and standards. With the adoption of an international system of technical regulation, the “Technical Regulation” Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan has considerably expanded the sphere of application of standards. The main directions of work in the field of standardization are: - development of evidence-based foundations for observance of mandatory requirements of technical regulations; - removal of technical barriers to trade by harmonization of domestic standards with international equivalents; - higher level of safety and competitiveness of products, implementation of modern methods of management of quality and environmental issues. According to the Law of the RK, the reforming of the existing system of technical regulation stipulates creation of a two-level system: technical regulations containing all obligatory public requirements on product safety, and voluntary standards including norms of competitiveness for such products
