The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) accredits Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) to develop standards. The scope of SCC accreditation includes the process of standards development by SDOs. SCC’s SDO accreditation is intended to develop standards that will advance the Canadian economy, support sustainable development, benefit the health, safety and welfare of workers and the public, assist, and protect consumers, facilitate domestic and international trade and further international cooperation in relation to standardization. SCC-Accredited SDOs develop and maintain National Standard of Canada (NSC), which include adoptions of international/regional standards, to meet the needs of Canadian stakeholders.
